EOD Warrior Foundation to Hold 3rd Annual Family Friendly Fun Event to Benefit Warriors

The Undefeated EOD Warrior 5K Run/Walk offers something for all ages, including bounce houses, food trucks, and a beer garden

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA –  The 3rd Annual Undefeated EOD Warrior 5K, benefitting the EOD Warrior Foundation, will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2017 in NTC Park at Liberty Station, San Diego, Calif. The annual 5K run/walk will begin at 9 a.m., and will include a variety of family friendly activities, including bounce houses, food trucks, a beer garden, and vendors. Registration for the event is currently open, and sponsorship opportunities remain available.

“This is a great event for the whole family,” explains Nicole Motsek, executive director of the EOD Warrior Foundation. “Whether you like to run, walk, or just want a fun day out with the family in sunny San Diego, it is sure to be a good time. It also benefits deserving Explosive Ordnance Disposal warriors and their families.”

The Undefeated EOD Warrior 5K will be held on Memorial Day at 2455 Cushing Road in San Diego, Calif. The funds raised will be used to further the mission of the EOD Warrior Foundation, which is to improve the quality of life for the EOD family by providing financial relief, scholarship opportunities, physical, social, and emotional support. The event also includes a junior EOD Warrior 1K, and a bomb suit race. The race is chip-timed, all participants will receive an event T-shirt and finisher medal, and there will be awards given to the top finishers in 8 age groups.

The event schedule is as follows:

Memorial Day (Race Day) – Monday, May 29, 2017
7:00 a.m. – Race day registration & packet pickup
8:30 a.m. – Race day registration & packet pickup CLOSED
8:40 a.m. – Opening Ceremony
9:00 a.m. – 5k start
10:00 a.m. – Junior EOD Warrior 1k start
10:30 a.m. – Bomb Suit Relay start
11:00 a.m. – Awards Presentation

“We are looking forward to beautiful weather, lots of energy, and a wonderful time,” added Motsek. “This event is a great way for people and businesses to give back to these brave warriors and their families, and they get to have fun while they do it. We hope to see the community come out to show their support and enjoy a great day!”

The 5K registration fee is $35 through April 30, $40 from May 1-May 23, and $45 on packet pickup and race day. The Junior EOD Warrior 1K is $10. Wounded services members receive free registration. Register for the 5K and 1K online at EOD Warrior Foundation. The event is also seeking sponsors, with sponsorship packages offered being $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000. Booth rental for the event is also available, with it being $250 for a 10’x10 booth.

The EOD Warrior Foundation is an organization that helps the families of the 7,000 people in our military who are Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians, and perform bomb disposal duties.
