Jim Luce on Animal Rescue

T he first dog Jim Luce had was from an animal shelter when he was eight years old.  Decades later, when he worked on Wall Street, he became involved with animal rescue once again, eventually caring for four dogs and six cats in his three-story home in Queens.  But this effort did not seem enough to him, and when he passed an orphanage in Indonesia he stopped and discovered it was more threadbare than any animal shelter he had seen in NYC.  That is when he realized that children must come first – but if they could in turn learn about life from rescuing animals, all the better.
