Southampton, N.Y.  I love parties especially birthday celebrations! This year, my friend, Daniela Zahradnikova attempted to surprise me with a July birthday celebration at her store, Space 16 in Southampton, New York.

Many friends got involved, including my friend Camille Knoll's daughter Gabriella who generously sponsored the beautiful rose champagne from Wine Source. Magician Kevin Nicholas showed up to entertain everyone with mysteriously bent forks and card tricks.

James Lipton from the Actors Studio and his wife Kedakai celebrated my special day as well his 18th Emmy Award nomination. Cognac Wellerlane brought her birthday present in a beautiful red dress… internationally acclaimed award winning opera star Cristina Fontanelli. Kevin Berlin, internationally acclaimed artist arrived with a bevy of statuesque Asian women.

I think you have the visual on my colorful crowd of friends, all of whom I'm very proud of. My children Justin and Alana Galloway, fiancé Barry Klarberg and many dear friends came from near and far.

Amongst the guests were Leslie Feldman, Ellie Wohl, Larry Wohl and Leesa Rowland, Amy Treitel, Joe and Jane Pontarelli, Lisa Herbert, Victoria Herbert, Lee Fryd, Lee Mellis, Rolf Heitmeyer, and Vanessa Leggard.

Space 16 is a convergence of art and style. Everyone sipped champagne and enjoyed music by Sounds by David O'Neal aka Thachozen-one. Fashionistas enjoyed getting temporary tattoos looking at and trying on clothing by Victor DE Souza, Lorenz Bach (Switzerland), Fairchild/Baldwin, Rue Pomme, Lezly Designs, AGF NY, Tusk, Rachel Brown (kabbalah focused jewelry), Vincenzo DeCaria.

Christina Fontanelli began to serenade me with her operatic version of "Happy Birthday" and the caterer passed out sparklers to everyone. As she sang, someone lit all of the sparklers which looked beautiful. When Cristina hit a high note, ending her song the fire and smoke alarms begin blaring loudly. Perfect timing! The accumulation of smoke from the sparklers had set them off. This was yet another surprise not only for me, but for my guests.

Folks calmly took their champagne flutes out to the front of the store and congregated on the sidewalk and benches while the band played on. Everyone had a good laugh and gave Hamptonites something to talk about all weekend long. The fire trucks and police arrived to turn off the alarm just in time for the cake to be cut and served.

When the smoke cleared some guests returned to the store and new guests arrived. Dr. Lewis Feder said, "Someone has a gift for you." DJ Galaxy Girl took to the keyboards and got the party started all over again. All in all, it was a surprise party full of surprises!
