Dwayne Spencer Heads Habitat for Humanity in Memphis





Memphis, TN. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis ’ President and C.E.O. Dwayne Spencer has worked in nonprofit management for 22 years and has led Memphis Habitat for 14 years.
He has guided the agency through a period of significant growth and change while maintaining and improving organizational practices, polices and strategies, which have effectively contributed to ongoing organizational effectiveness and client impact.

Spencer has extensive experience working with a wide range of community constituencies to create strategic partnerships and impactful collaborations.
Spencer is currently enrolled at The University of Memphis working toward a master’s in public administration.
He was named Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee’s first-ever Leader of the Year in 2011 for his efforts to grow the Memphis affiliate, open a successful ReStore and expand Memphis Habitat’s mission to include Neighborhood Revitalization.

Spencer currently serves on the Habitat for Humanity Tennessee Board of Directors and Habitat for Humanity International’s U.S. Affiliate Council.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing by creating sustainable, affordable homeownership opportunities for local families in need; providing critical home repairs to low-income homeowners; and completing mobility and accessibility modifications for low-income seniors.

Since its founding in 1983, Memphis Habitat has served more than 445 families in the Memphis area via our home buying program, completed 80-plus critical repair projects in the Uptown neighborhood of Memphis and funded the construction of 64 homes abroad.
