Svalbard Satellite Station (SvalSat)

A view of the Svalbard Satellite Station (SvalSat). SvalSat is located close to Longyearbyen and is recognized as the best-located ground station in the world for satellite observations. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited the region to observe first-hand the effects of climate change and this visit focused on using satellite data for improved climate change adaptation and to reduce the risk of climate-related hazards.

SvalSat está situado cerca de Longyearbyen y es reconocida como la estación de tierra con una magnífica ubicación en el mundo de las observaciones por satélite. El Secretario General Ban Ki-moon, visitó la región para observar de primera mano los efectos del cambio climático y esta visita se centró en el uso de datos de satélite para una mejor adaptación al cambio climático y para reducir el riesgo de peligros relacionados con el clima.
