The VHH Charity Concerts has a good tradition and it has been very successful over the past five years. While providing people with an inspiration experience in music, it creates another opportunity to look into the organization and reach out people in this field. So the night on Dec. 4 should be a wonderful occasion to enjoy good music while giving more of your awareness of the New-York-based charity organization.

VHH was founded by L. Antonio Litman in 2006. It was named after Mrs. Virginia Maitland Sachs, a woman with a passion for New York City and all who lived there. VHH commits itself to improving the quality of life for children. The organization accomplishes this by helping disadvantaged families throughout New York City and the surrounding regions. Working with the local public schools, VHH provided access to food, clothing and other life basic essentials to those in need. At the same time, it also served thanksgiving dinner to over 400 families and developed music programs for the disadvantaged children.

Among VHH’s programs, the Tugboat Program is aimed at preparing the high school graduates with a promising maritime job through a solid training program. The unemployment rate for recent high school graduates not enrolled in college is 35%. Without training, young graduates miss out on job opportunities. But the proper training can be too expensive for some. With the Tugboat Program, these students are given the opportunity to obtain the proper hands on training a deckhand job requires.

Though the program the participants will be securing a paying maritime job, which can be a life-long career. Though the three-year program requires high administrative cost, it requests no tuition for any participant, being fully financed by industry support, grants and donations. Definitely, other VHH’s programs, such as Music Program, School Charities, Maritime Scholarship and Hurricane Sandy Relief Program all created strong supports to the local communities. And the related information could be seen on their website.

At last, if you expect to enjoy a wonderful music night and explore more about VHH and its caring programs in NYC, don’t miss out the concert on Dec. 4 at Carnegie Hall!
